DRP - Distribution Requirements Planning

DRP - Distributionsplanung

DRP (Distribution Requirements Planning) supports distribution planning for decentralized warehouses. Its goal is to maximize sales, full utilization of all transportation modes and the minimization of storage costs by reducing inventory. DRP designs loading plans for the source of supply and provides a preview of deliveries for all destinations in order to provide all regional warehouses and/or customers with the best possible supply.

DRP presents proposals for the planner on

  • Loading plans for modes of transportation
  • Distribution plans
  • Inventory plans.

Optimum distribution

DRP – Distribution Plan

Depending on the company situation and the task, DRP creates distribution plans dynamically. DRP considers the general framework and adheres to individual rules.

Typical planning restrictions are:

  • Product availability at the source of goods
  • Storage capacities at the source and destination of goods
  • Availability of transportation
  • Packaging units of goods
  • Maximum storage time of goods (expiration date)
